just started my 7 this morning and as I checked the inline fuel filter it was blowing bubbles inside it almost like opening a fresh bottle of cola everytime I gave it some throttle,
took it for a quick drive down to the bottom of the road and back no problems got out of the car and............

"DON'T LIGHT A FAG"
it was p!$$!ng fuel all over my rear axle.
Was a good job I got that new tank from S&S the other week, problem is it's supposed to be going to the bodyshop tommorow fo a couple of bits to be sorted & then after the bodyshop it was going to have the new tank fitted.
I only needed two 5 min drives out of it [:(!][:(!]

I suppose it could have been worse it could have given way when i went to S&S, but what a time to go i had it all planed bodyshop, petrol tank,then all ready for it's next MOT 5th May............

does anyone think i could get away with patching it up with that amalganating tape plumbers use when they do bodge jobs just for the two 5 min trips either that or Â£50-Â£60 on a flat bed Â£[:(]Â£

Petrol can between your legs with a pipe into it and through the window into the engine bay connected to the pump. Voila.

yeh thought about that one............a little problem i dont know how much fuel is left in my tank, at the moment i have the car ponting up my sloped drive so that it stops the leak as the hole/holes are at the front of the tank, so i need to at least temp, seal the tank or i'll spewing fuel up and down the road & if rod the plod gets behind me thats me buggered....

It rides again..... and again wehey!!!!!!!

There is an epoxy mix that someone used to temp seal the tank pin holes (I think it might be the stuff used to temp fix small muffler holes) but you'db have to find a store open that carried it. Easier to get a tow, bite the tow bullet and be glad the fates didn't see fit to put a spark on the freshly release gas.

There is an epoxy that works very well on small holes. It will bond even when wet. I recently used it on two pin holes in my tank. I bought it at a car parts shop. It comes in a stick. You break off what you need and kneed it in your hand which mixes the two parts. Then stick it on the hole. It hardens and can be sanded. Great stuff. Can also patch muffler holes.

Glass fibre matting and resin might hold it for a few minutes but the flatbed lorry sounds like the safer bet.

If there's one hole now there are many others just waiting to set themselves free...........

Gaz,

The stuff we used on an oil pan was a product called JB Weld Water and a pencil sized diameter hole was not a problem for it. Another product here is called Quick Steel..same result. Other posts described it correctly.

I know it as mega metal but you can get it from halfords as

tip on using it :

. Make sure you dry the surface

. wire brush any the area ( don't go to big or you will find more holes)

. snap the stick in half and kneed together until one colour

. wet your hands (this stops it sticking to your hands )

. put over hole and smooth out 

. should take half an hour to cure

This should seal the tank for a week or five...D][:D]

well I drove with the fuel can by my feet luckly i was able to remove a grommet in the bulkhead and run my fuel pipe directly into the footwell
as when I pulled up traffic lights a police car pulled up beside me, just as well i ran the pipe through the bulkhead or there may been teltale signs.......[:D]

I did'nt drive a TR7 as a daily in Scotland for five years

and not know how to bodge...[;)]
