I've only got keys cut from existing keys but I would think if you took the tumbler to a locksmith they shoud be able to cut a key from that.

I once took the barrel to a local locksmith and they were able to cut me a key from that. A new key for the lock when I did not have one before. I have the same issue now as I have a late style push button boot lock and no key, think I will be going to the locksmith again.

Could be. It's been a number of months since I've last used my keys and memory may not be what it once was. I do know I have only two keys.[:D]

I had one original key that operates all locks (ignition, doors, boot and glovebox) and one that operates just the boot and glove box.
I have a key that was copied in the usual way that operates nothing at all.
I also have another that was cut from the code which was achieved by the locksmith analysing my original (worn) key to find the code. This key operates just the ignition and the doors.
As an interesting aside I have yet to find a Triumph car on which my original key won't turn at least one of the locks! [:D]

I think it may be worth a call to a locksmith before tearing the door apart. Perhaps they can come up with a profile without removing the lock? I know that the one here does service calls to get into cars the owners locked the keys in. Worth a call?

On my car the Big key opperates the doors and the steering lock, the small key is for the boot and glove box.
You could always take a gamble on the key numbers shown on your heritage certificate if you have one.

HEY GUYS!!!
MY 80 DHC IS AN ORIGINAL CAR WITH MINIMAL MILES. I HAVE LOST THE KEY THAT OPENS THE TRUNK AND GLOVE BOX. I HAVE THE BRITISH MOTOR INDUSTRY HERITAGE TRUST CERTIFICATE WHICH LISTS THE KEY NUMBERS AS NH.WITH FOUR DIGITS AND FT. WITH 3 DIGITS. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THESE CODES MEAN AND/OR WOULD AN AMERICAN LOCKSMITH BE FAMILIAR WITH THESE?

P.J.Wright.
I think the NH with the four digits is the large key and the FT with the 3 digits is for the smaller key.
Your Locksmith may be familiar with these codes.
I also think the smaller keys were also used in steel personnel lockers as well, so a supplier of these may also be of help for these keys.

I went thru this recently, but I had 1 key each for 1) ignition and doors, 2) trunk (boot), 3) glove box and 4) locking gas cap.
One of my local locksmiths was very helpful. She looked at the ignition key and took a couple of measurements and then cut a key based on standard cuts; worked very well. Same for the trunk (boot) key. She did not have the right blanks for the other two.
I went to a bigger shop to see if they had the right blanks. They did not, but they modified (mostly by thinning the blank thickness) 2 blanks to make up the glove box and locking gas cap.
The first locksmith let me know that they charge more to make a new key in a "lock out" situation (where you have no key).
