Contact Breaker points?

Hi,Took (Tracie)to the garage this morning with the intention of her contact breaker points being replaced, however I had purchased lucas ones which I had assumed was the correct part.
However, I was told that our 1981 TR7 needs 'Descilla' points or something similarly named, i didnt quite catch it, however I haven't been able to find any points manufacturer that go by this name.
Was there some sort of conversion in her early life?, or if anyone can help me I'd be most greatful. As she keeps breaking down with the current points.
Thanks

On further investigations I believe now that the mechanic most probably meant to say AC Delco but couldn't speak propperly if you know whatta mean. lol, I feel such a wazzak.

Unless your car has been "converted" it should have a Delco Remy (AC Delco) distributor with an impulse generator (no points). This is fed via a black mutli wire to a square looking coil on LH inner fender that contains an amplifier/controler and coil.

I read this thread and make the presumption the car is in the UK. Surely it has a contact breaker then??? Just telephone Robsport International or S&S Preparations (the two TR7 specialists) and get them to send the correct points for your car.
But please tell us what you mean by "keeps breaking down with the present points". Points wear quickly on TR7's - I have to reset the gap every 1000 miles to keep things running correctly, but it doesn't break down because of it. Perhaps you're doing a high mileage and just need to reset the gap more regularly than at present.

I'm sure your right. I was being geocentric I'm afraid. Seems even in '81 the home market wasn't deemed worthy of electronic ignition.[:)]
