Feels like christmas all over again!

Postby Bobbieslandy » 22 Mar 2010 14:24

This should tighten up the car no end, i wish parcels like this turned up every Monday morning! Hats off to RobSport for that one.

Deadline for sprint conversion 19th April, want it MOT'd and taxed by then too. No pressure! Once i'm back from Le-mans the spax will be replaced by something else, The advice against Spax proved true. the rears appear to have seized hence these temporary replacements.

Hi Rob,

If you want a hand doing the front end don't be afraid to ask. I have done loads.

Cheers

Hi Ian, Thanks for that. I should be ok, if it does all go a bit wrong i'll be taking you up on it! you're perfectly welcome to pop round for a cuppa though.

My only real concern is when it's time to start it up. The previous owners comment that "it was holding back and lacked power" is worrying me.

So far i found two cables which run from the luminition module with damaged insulation, the bare cores had been rubbing and shorting out on the dizzy housing, easy enough to sort, just hope it hasnt caused it any long term damage.

the second thing was a 2" crack on the tubular exhaust manifold where it bolts to the gear box, i've since welded it up (silver bit around the bracket, only had stainless filler rod)

and pulled out the worst of a section where it had obviously hit the ground, havent had a chance to grind the stud yet though.

I'm dreading what other horrors i'm going to find in the next few weeks!

I did my ARB & sub-frame bushes last night. Took about 4 hours with no real brain teasers. The 2 tricks are the assembly order of the SF bushes which are different front to rear & using a spanish windlass (ratchet tie-downs) to pull the ARB ends together to get them in/out of the lower link eyes.
