Steering wheel size

My 7's original wheel is 14 inches. I acquired a wheel that is supposedly from an 8. It is 13 inches. Is that correct? Are the 8 wheels 13 inches or 14 inches?
Just finishing my interior redo. Red carpet and red plaid trim on a a russet brown car. Definitely different. Looks pretty good so far. I just have bolt in the seats, do some odds and ends trim stuff and install the windscreen. Should be good to go by Spring time.

Our absolutley stock steering wheel on our 1976 Coupe measures 13 3/4" from outside to outside. Mind you, these are U.S. inches I'm talking about.

The TR8 definitely has a smaller dia steering wheel. Motolita I believe. I can get a measurement tommorrow but 13" sounds about right.

TR8 wheel is 13" and standard on the Spider and 30th Anniversary Edition. Being smaller it is more difficult to turn the wheel and kind of like driving a go kart at speed (the last part not a bad thing). The biggest drawback is I can't quite see the signal lights on the dash so have to dip my head to make sure the signal lever returned to neutral if it's too noisey out to hear the clicking. The good thing is it looks good.

The power rack on the TR8 eliminates the first part and makes the second even more fun. [:D]

I knew that the United States, having appropriated the gallon as a unit of measure, determined it to be different to the imperial (UK) gallon.

But Mildred's comment above suggests that the same applies to linear measures - which is news to me.

Why oh why can't we all use the the same, sensible and logical metric system?
