Does anybody know the make / model / type of spot lamps that were used on the works rally cars and whether they're still available? if they're not, what is the modern day equivilent? My Wipacs off the land rover are a little on the heavy side unfortunatley!

Many thanks,

Rob.

I think they used Lucas spots on the works cars.
As for modern equivilents, it all depends on what you are using them for and your budget.
There are light weight lamps available which the rally guy's use such as Lightforce, and Hella which are not cheap and quite large. But if you are looking for originality then Lucas, Wipac and Cibie are available and are slightly smaller and cheaper.

John Buffum used Hella Rallye 2000 for the four main lamps and Hella 192s for the cornering lamps for the 1981 onward season over in the UK & Europe.

Thanks guys,

The Spots will help me along the country lanes, they won't be for any kind of rallying. Well not just yet anyway. I just wanted to be able to search ebay or talk to people at the classic car meet and mention which spots i'm after. I'd rather get the right ones than get some which don't quite look right. If they look too big or too small then it will bug me in a big way, gotta get this right!

Cheers for the help!

Rob.

That's spot on Jclay! My Ally welding isn't up to much so i'll make the brackets out of stainless, I think they look so much better with spotlamps. Thanks again guys.
