DHC Hardtops

Postby gordon kerr » 05 Feb 2010 12:57

From time to time we see posts asking about the hardtops which used to be avaialable for dhc's. The usual answer is to look on E-bay where they crop up from time to time but that they are no longer avaialable new. I was surprised therefore to receive an email yesterday from Rimmer Bros including them as a new item at £383.25 ex VAT. In case anyone was interested this is the link:

No connection with the company, not even as a customer, just trying to help out anyone who might be looking for one of these [:)]

and on the oposite side , I just love the Lenham roof.

It imho more resembles the coupe with the advantage of additional windows....personally if I ever got one , I'd spray the same colour of my car maybe leave it on all the time!!!

Not a fan of current hard tops. I'd rather see one that's closer to the out line of the soft top.

Lenham Triumph TR7 Hardtop
A ROOF FOR ALL SEASONS
You can enjoy all-weather motoring with a Lenham hardtop. They are easy to fit and come complete with fittings. At a modest price, this well designed product will increase your motoring options, and your year-round use and enjoyment of your TR7.

-------------------------

Please tell me if I'm missing something here, but I just don't see the point of hard tops for convertables. How will this hard top increase your motoring options and year round use. Modest price! £450.32p!! [:0][:0].
Don't like the Lenham top. YUK!!
The Snug top is much better looking[^], but I still wouldn't have one [:D][:D].

I have a Lenham.

It's spent the last five years hanging in
the garage.

White, with a glass pop-out sun-roof!
Why do you need a sun-roof in a hard-top for a convertable?
Answers on a postcard, please

To put the prices wanted for a 7 hard top into perspective.

I have been offered a factory original, second hand [so about 16
years old or more] hard top, for my recently aquired Ford Capri,
2+2 convertible. In quite good condition, but needing a coat of
paint, they only want A$1,000 for it, & I'm told that's a good
price.

Makes the ones on offer for 7s look pretty good value.

def be the snugtop for me, think in the really cruddy weather it would help me out as i have no garage, so might help keep inside mine dry, mind you i need new soft top but it will be a long way down the list, you see the state of mine at the moment, a new hood would look daft on it....

but cant afford either at mo so no contest,....lol

Well I don't know what you guys have as climate in your neck of the woods, but over here we only have real summer weather for about 3 months of the year (June,July,August).
Hardtops make the car warmer, quieter, and supposed to be more water tight. They could also a little bit more secure against theft.
(Good example of this would be how most of the modern drop-tops now have solid (and complex) folding roof panels , in place of fabric)

Ron.
