If I want to upgrade the front discs to vented and matching caliper but keep a 13" rim what are my options ?

Cheers, Paul

Depends on the wheels you're going to use.
The Ford based kit from S&S will fit most 13" wheels (not the steel ones it seems). Biggest advantage of this set up is that the calliper is a straight swap.

Or if you’ve access to a lathe etc, choose a calliper that fits nicely inside the wheels on a machined alloy bracket,
and work from there using vented discs with alloy bells ...

Just to add to Pauls original comment, he'll be fitting a 3.9 ltr V8 with stage 2 heads, so will need a good setup.

In that case alloy calipers with two piece vented discs with proper Ferodo or Mintex pads [:D]

I have Ford Capri Calipers on my car

It must be a very close fit with the standard TR7 alloys

as when I took the standard wheels off my car to fit the 15" wheels

I notised this If you look you can see where the caliper has been

hitting the wheel

I fitted the S&S vented Capri kit within my std 13" steel wheels back in the early 90's. They supplied a couple of thin wheel spacers with it and said that the calipers would need a bit of "fettling" to clear any of the wheels' high spots. It only took about 5 minutes with a file. If I'd had the std alloys they said I wouldn't have needed the spacers or the file.

IMHO the larger swept volume of the larger front brakes definitely needs the uprated master cylinder / servo combo and braided hoses. The brake pedal travel was too much for me without it.

Is the latest S&S kit Ford kit still based on the Capri items?
