Please pardon my cynicism. I prefer to write my own history rather than a hack's rehash of yesterdays bovine cud. We have far better writers presenting relevant information on a daily basis on this four wheeled subject.

Please, let us not sell ourselves, our abilities, or our experiences short.

Now that would be a book worth having in one's library.[:)]

What a fantastic idea!!!

Mildred I take my hat off to you.

Why don't we as a forum write the definative book on TR7 and TR8?

Many of us could each write a chapter, all could add reeevent photographs and viola!!

I think that we could write the definative buyers guide, maintenance guide for this aged car, write about the versatility with a few chapters on modified cars, feature Beans restoration.

We could spark interest in the car by showing people how versatile they are and how much fun they are to drive.

We could add Tricks and tips on how to match modern parts to the car like the TPS for the TR8 EFI or the Hasbeen trick in securing fuel tank studs before removing the tank.

It would be a big book but.......

How many here would actually be interested in getting involved in a project like this? In other words, how many budding Authors do we have?

A book by committee would be a challenge that could split this forum apart like an old brake line. Tread carefully.

My preference is for more of us to maintain a blog so that we can build up a history of our individual cars where we document the car's progress & describe what works & what doesn't. The blogs we do have on the forum are really useful because all the info on that car is in one place. Anyone who has used the search function on the forum will appreciate the advantage of knowing exactly where to find out what so & so did with their car. For myself my blog is a damned useful resource for myself if nothing else.

There may be plenty of knowledge on here Mildred but I can't imagine all of us as a collective group could have put together David Knowles book. Let's hope the same can be said of this new one from Roger Williams. Whatever though, it's another title on our favourite cars and that can only be a good thing particularly as there is hardly anything on Triumph being produced at all now. I say, well done Mr. Williams!

Gentlemen, and Ladies as well. Please raise your hand if you have ever composed and posted an article for the repair, modification, a travelogue, a comparison, or any other appreciation of our cars. Hasbeen, sir, if you would please count the hands being raised.

As I thought, more than a few of us have done so and they are posted within these vibrantly hallowed halls. Do we already have a publication? Are not our literary efforts worthy of mention? Who really are the experts around here on the TR7 & TR8, as well as the many derivatives?

So, what's left? A little copy & paste. Some photos melanges scattered about with scenic vistas in the background. A few old print ads that are within the 'public domain'. Presto! We got a book.

Are any of us anywhere close to being photogenic in a supermodel sense anymore to pose draped across the car? I'm afraid my undergarments would provide enough material for at least eight of the costumes the girls wear on the cover of the sports magazines swimwear issues, so we better count me out.

Books are great at 3:00AM, when you are stuck while working on your car. They are also wonderful when it is just too cold or wet to be out working.

I feel that this forum is a great clearing house and hub of information where the members can come and get almost instant answers to questions and problems they have with their cars.

Add to that the number of web sites and BLOGs that are written and maintained by the membership of this forum and you have a plethora of information sources. This Forum, other Triumph forums and the mailing list gives each one of us opportunities to network, build a parts trading sources and make new friends.

Mildred is right. As long as we keep writing and posting, we continue to expand the knowledge base and keep our excitement going about the love of our cars and driving them.
