Happy New Year 2010

Postby PeterTR7V8 » 31 Dec 2009 03:39

All the best for the new year, team. It has been a pleasure to spend time on this forum in 2009. Cheers for all the help & sympathy.

2009 was an interesting one. A passable year but not one I'd like to repeat so here's hoping we all have a better time of it in 2010.

Onward & upward & watch that first turn, it's a bugger!

Happy New Year to everyone! Big storm predicted starting tomorrow here with a couple of days steady of snow and/or rain.

The Spider's doors were frozen shut yesterday. Managed to open them with some firm yanks, and as last night the driver's door would not latch shut. Hopefully the ice will melt inside the door today. Ah...those stylish Marina door handles!

Wow, Zoe, your car looks just terrific! Happy New Year to you, and to everyone on the Forum whose been so helpful and entertaining!

BTW, the temperature rose to near freezing here so the Spider's door latch finally thawed a bit. The door was shut just in time for a predicted three days of steady snow.

Happy New Year to every one, just sitting here in front of the telly watching Barrett-Jackson with misty rain keeping it well above zero. In the weather yearly recap they complained about not enough summer in the East and too much in the West. No, just the right amount in the West other than the deluge on the Portland ABFM in September. A first place in TR7 category at Van Dusen and a third in TR7/TR8 category at Portland under the rain with no bonnets opened. An unexpected acquiring of a yellow TCT for $100 in the spring and a garage in a mess to put in 220 Volts at the end and starting to think of the line up of car shows and events for 2010.

What were you doing at the witching hour?

From what we see on our news, many of you are having a pretty damn
cold new year.

It's been so hot here, [when not raining], that it has not been
topples motoring weather, but at least we can drive our cars.

I spent midnight, with a drink, in the backyard pool.

Happy New Year to all and best wishes for a trouble free and "Triumph-ant" 2010. (Ok, it's a little lame, but the wishes for a great year are sincere.)

Thanks for all your help this year. Keep posting!

The wife & I went to a friends house for the evening same as we have done for the last couple of years. This mate, Andrew, is very much into his cars, racing & restoring them so all the usual car nuts were there plus some new faces. I remember vaguely being introduced to someone called Amanda early on but I'm hopeless with names so didn't think much of it. Later we were discussing the Trio At The Top DVD I got for Christmas (a doco about Bruce McLaren, Denny Hulme & Chris Amon) & this Amanda women starts talking about the production of it as if she knew something about it. Andy saw the confused look on my face & said, "don't you recognise her from the DVD? It's Amanda McLaren." I nearly fell backwards into the pavlova! Bruce's daughter for gawd's sake. Sometimes you just never appreciate how well connected your friends are. I'd always thought I was the most interesting person Andy knew. [:D]

Hey, Hasbeen, you'll be pleased to know that even though she likes cars she is more into her horses.

Actually what was more interesting was that fellow wedge enthusiast Eion, had bought a Grinnall 2+2 TR7 V8. I'll be seeing that on Sunday so more later.
