Hi Guys

Have damaged 2 of my alloys beyond use so need to get some wheels asap as tr7 is only car and cant use the bikes with the weather. was wondering what wheels fit the stud pattern for a 1980? Appreciate advice or a source but like everyone post Christmas budget is very tight!

Fergie, the answer is not many alternatives fit because the PCD of the TR7 wheels was an unusual size (95.25mm I think). The MGF alloy is one that does fit as mentioned already.

If money is tight you could get a set of ordinary pressed steel TR7 wheels (as fitted to earlier cars) very cheaply - Rimmers list a set of 4 with nuts at £84, brand new! OK you need to get tyres for them but maybe you could transplant tyres you already have if not damaged? Get you back on the road until you can save up for a nice set of MGF alloys[:)]

Got another question though, I remembered some Dolomite 13 inch wheels i had. Prob is with the brake conversion on the front they wont fit there, does this happen with MG wheels.

Temp solution is 155/13 steel wheels on rear and 195/60/14 compomotive alloys on the front.

Poor wedge she never really lets me down and i do neglect her and then drive her too hard in the wet and hurt her now she looks sad with mixed wheels so here is a happier pic

Where abouts in the UK are you Fergie? There are probably several of us with original steel wheels or old alloys in the garage that could help you out. If you have uprated front brakes then you may have problems fitting 13" steel wheels over some of the calipers.

I wouldn't drive with a "spacesaver" size wheel on the rear, let alone two, unless it was an emergency get me home solution. I didn't think Dolly wheels fitted our PCD's though.

Maestro and Montego wheels are a direct fit onto TR7's as well. They're even cheaper than MGF or MGTF wheels when they appear on Ebay. Also have a look at the parts section on this forum for wheels as they appear every now and again.

MGF alloys only come in 15" or 16" size, so no probs with your brake conversion clearance. 15" are much more common & come in various styles, all have the correct bolt circle to fit the TR7 hubs. Have a look on ebay.

Ah yes she was a pampered pooch for many years spending quite a few on the 1/4mile with a way too fragile 16valver that broke engine mountings trying to put 220bhp down!!! Couldn't keep it cooled for road use so eventually back to a standard 2litre. Now I'm afraid in the hands of me who spends most of time and all of money on my bikes, rebuilding the engine from my 1980 Yam XS1100 just now[:D]

Live in Bonnie Dundee and as far as I know have the only TR7 on the road with one in Carnoustie that I sold a gearbox to, that is unless anyone knows different?
