Stainless steel heater pipe

Postby Rblackadar » 07 Dec 2009 13:10

OK, I got the new stainless steel heater pipe that connects the heater return hose to the manifold and water pump. My old one was rotten and plugged up. My question is, I have all the pieces need to hook up to the manifold, threaded connector , olive, etc. but do I need to solder the olive onto the pipe after putting the threaded collar on the little elbow tube. I think that's the only way.

No.......
if the olive is the correct size ie. a slightly snug fit then it works as a compression fitting and as you tighten it will crush the olive to form a seal

when compressed your olive will look like this:

It rides again..... and again wehey!!!!!!!
