Disco lights

A fault has developed in the recent damp weather with my head lights. As soon as you switch them on to side lights the pods pop up and down none stop till you switch the lights off. They flash ok and I have disconnected and cleaned the red connectors behind the lights under the bonnet and cleaned the earth connection there. Where should i try next? Could the switch on the dashboard be playing up, note that the disco lights performace starts on side lights! Where is the control box?

Thanks
Alan

The initial advice is always to start with cleaning the connectors under the bonnet behind the lights, and then the take the switch apart and clean the contacts, then check the relays. If both lights are doing it the switch is the common point. It is quite easy to take apart, just note where all the contact strips go and how they fit.
If you need to get into the motors and limit switches I think there is more info on the lights and how they work on Jclays site, but it is unusual for both to go out of adjustment together.

I think the dash board switch is the likely culprit. Start with cleaning that up, or maybe you have a spare you can try?

I bought a new dash switch from Robsport and fitted in this morning and the lights now work properly. Thanks for your help everyone.

Cheers!

Good news. Now make sure you keep everything around the headlamp pod mechanicals and electricals sprayed up with WD40 as that works miracles in keeping the troublesome lights working normally. Just the external electricals, not in the dash.
