New TR7 shells

Hi all, called into Fitchetts last week to sort some parts and had a look at the new shells that they have on stock. By my count there were about 8 FHC and 2 DHC. They are stored dry and well ventilated, was shown paperwork from when the shells were bought and where from.
Were very very dusty, checked inside all the cavitys and were rust free and as new, small amount of surface rust in some parts underneath which easily wiped off by hand.

cheers, Paul

Yeah, just under £3k each but due to increase when the VAT goes up next year, no discounts to be had and we tried hard.

Hm, this might be interesting...
(I'm slowly looking for a LHD dhc body in white for a future 'restauration' of a certain fhc...)

The dhc bodies: LHD or RHD? I can't really see in your pictures...

T.D. Fitchett have had an advert in Triumph World as long as I can remember. They list the bodyshells with these prices which are inclusive of VAT:-

Body shell FHC with sunroof - £2,950
Body shell convertible - £4,450

They have an extensive list of original body panels for the TR7 so perhaps it's worth looking at page 22 of the current issue.

You'll have to mirror that, except for the heaters apartures.
It can be done but it is a fair bit of work, oh and put the battery in the boot, saves a lot of work ...

Exactly,
and I don't want to do all that mirroring, I want the dhc body in white to be LHD from the beginning.
It'll be work enough to "rebuild" a RHD fhc TR7V8 into a LHD dhc TR7V8... [:0]

I will be speaking to Fitchetts in the morning and will ask them about RHD/LHD

Hi Paul,
Good to to see the photos, I'm sure there are many of us who would love to have one of those shells!
Has he still got rows of doors, bonnets, boots in various colours? I haven't been there for a few years (even though its on my door step) but I remember seeing a mass of TR7 bits.

I first went in 1985, when he had just got the shells and had them sitting in crates in his yard, he was buying up all the bits left over from the BL production line after it closed, I recon he had about 30 shells and one GT6 shell! So there must be a few TR7 out there that have been reshelled.
I'm pretty sure they were £850 for a FHC and £1295 for the DHC, but still 'loads a money' in those days!
