Window lift crank arms -- where to get these?

Not okay. I took off the TR8's window crank arms, one has the knob broken off and the other arm is broken at half its length. I went to the Checker Auto store and all they had was the US type of crank arm. These have a gear teeth type arrangement to fit over a small perhaps 1/4 inch shaft with teeth.
The Triumph uses a large hexagonal engagement. Are those common to British makes?
Do I have to look thru junkyards to find these? Are there replacement sources such as aftermarket replicas?
I need two. Or maybe I can fix the knob on one of them. [:(]

Victoria British can sell you some, as can the usual purveyors on ebay. Other U. S. vendors also can sell these handles. Of minor interest, the TR7/TR8 shares these window handles with MG and other BL cars from that era. The outside door handle was shared with Lotus and Rover for quite a long time.
Please use the SEARCH feature of the forums to find and read my article on window handle repair.

Thank you, Mildred. I needed to find a new arm since one of mine is broken beyond repair. If the source of the arm did not match mine, I would probably get a matching set.
I like your knob repair, though. May end up doing that to my good arm, if I can find one matching arm.
MG, Lotus, and early Mini Coopers might be donor cars. That is good to know. [^]

Handles off of a Mini (the old one obviously) fit. I have a pair on mine.

Moss, TRF most any Brit car supplier. As noted, they fit a wide range of LBCs. I replaced the ones on my MGB with the earlier chrome metal ones. Not as prone to breakage as the plastic.

They may be more durable, but the extra weight of the metal over the plastic will hurt acceleration. [:D]

Replaced the nasty plastic ones on mine with the shiny chrome ones - They look so much nicer even if they are MG...

Would the crank arms from an MG Midget work? I see a parts one in a notice. While we're at it, would the Midget's steering wheel go in the TR8? What else could I use off of the Midget? [?]

I took a look at what are supposed to be MGB crank arms. They do not fit my TR8. They do not have the hexagonal lock up. Is that right?

Are the older or the newer MG arms usable on our TR7 & 8?

These fit ...
In this case they are sold as Lotus Exige (probably double the price, but who cares when they are free) and they fit very nicely.
So any late Minis and Rovers from the late 80's early 90's are potential donors ...

Thanks Beans,
I know of a Rover being parted out. Maybe I can get the arms from it. I better rush back to that one, it was a little while back. Hope the guy still has it.
