Hi, having some issues with my 77 TR7 and the headlights.

Nothing to do with the popup motors. Basically the dip healidghts don't always light up.

I presume its a dodgy connection somewhere but have had little luck in tracing the issue and wondered if anyone else had had similar issues.

When I switch the headlights on, they now hardly ever light up, sometimes one will or the other or even both. This first started as only an issue with the passenger one (RHD car) but now affects both.

Main beam (high beam) is fine and works on both lamps ALL the time its only dip that is affected.

Any help or ideas?

Actually had exactly the same problem a few years ago. In my case problem was solved by cleaning the three way connectors at the front of the engine bay, just behind the headlights.

So check all connectors and earth points first (look for corrosion and dirt). Start with the black connectors and earth points .

I would look at cleaning up the connections on the main headlight switch. Try applying some pressure on the switch, to see if it improves or not. If so give take the switch apart and give it a clean.

i guess weve all had probs with the lights . What i did and it was very satisfying was to completely remove the entire headlight wiring strip back any old insulation if there is any mind you .remove all the old bullit connectors .even solder in new wire if you have to as it corrodes at the ends and solder in new connectors .Re-insulate all the wireing and where it goes through the bodywork i used plastic flexi extruding or [cable tidy from b&q].
