Wiper Query

I have been doing a bit of work on one of the TR7s to get it ready for roadworthy.
There is red with green trace wire in the back of the steering wheel that goes into the wiper switch. it has been cut and now the wipers only operate on one speed and dont park. When I rejoin the wire the wipers work when the switch is in the off position.
Anyone shed any light on the problem?

Troy, it is time to break out the multi meter to determine if the switch is functioning properly. If working correctly, loook at the limit switch contacts in the motor, of course taking pictures along the way for reassembly. The 'not parking' seems to be the biggest clue to problem. If switch failure, replace switch. If stuck or bridged contact in wiper motor, clean contacts or replace motor.[:(!]

Also check the arm on the cable (wiper rack) fitted to the limit switch isn't broken. This would also cause the wipers to not park.

BL later improved the lever on the cable to prevent it from breaking.
