I am still waiting on promises to get my replacement gearbox fitted. I have a lt77 5 speed box, mounting rubbers and bushes waiting to go in.I have just seen this clutch kit on E bay.Does anyone know if it is the correct one for a lt77 box fitted to a sprint engined TR7[?] .I was not going to change the clutch as I assumed clutches were like 100 pound plus. However seems daft not too and cheap if this is the correct one.[:X]

Hi,

A 3 piece clutch kit from Rimmers is around £100 and Robsport £75 + vat as per their websites. This is £44 all in inc p&p.

It's not one of those things you want to replace a few months afterwards and go through the hassle of removing the engine and gearbox to sort out. The seller's got 100% feedback, maybe the clutch is genuine old stock they picked up? Might be worth asking the seller who the manufacturer is. Some pattern parts are great, some not so. I've experienced both.

I couldn't tell if that's a TR7 5 speed clutch or a general picture of a clutch that's been posted on the website. I last saw my 7's Dolly clutch back in 1991.

I don't know of a reason why a 5 speed TR7 clutch would't be the right one for you (Sprint engine + LT77 5 speed box). The flywheel is the same I reckon? Hopefully a Sprint owner will be along soon to confirm.......
My clutch failed when the pivot pin wore through the socket part of the lever arm. As you're renewing your gearbox I'd check the lever arm and how much meat is left on the clutch plate as a priority. If the rest looks good and is something like Borg and Beck OE components you might want to keep it in place instead of a £35 three part set but that's your call. (Sorry, I copped out there) Send an email through ebay asking who the manufacturer is and assess the reaction. Hopefully it's an OE supplier like Borg and Beck.

Good luck,

Adam

The picture provided with the advert shows a correct clutch cover for a 5-speed TR7. Just ask them if that's the one they send over.

As your car already has a 5-speed 'box fitted there shouldn't be a problem. Main difference between (Dollie) Sprint and TR7 clutch is the plate (number of splines) and the release bearing. Cover is the same.
