I found this on Oz ebay, A 1981 TR-7 DHC the seller claims it's one of the last off the production line, built on the last day of production.
It's a basket case but with the bidding starting at A$99.95 it's got possibilities.

It's up to $201 Aus. and no import papers. Does that mean it's a parts car in Oz? I see it needs RH door skin. Looks like lots of work but it includes pivot (rotisserie?) that could make it well worth while.

You can get them registered. I had one car with no record of
registeration, & no owner history.

I had to apply to the police, for a stolen vehicle check, which took
5 or 6 weeks.

There are now some people compliancing imports who seem to have
special privileges. They can do things a private owner does not
appear to be able to do.

When the 8 fell out of Victorian rego, while it was being painted,
Queensland refused to accept the previous Victorian compliance of
the engine, gearbox, diff, & brakes. I am not sure if they would
have, even if it was still registered.

I gave the thing to a compliance company, who specialise in US
imports, mostly 60s Mustangs. He gave the car back the next day,
complianced, registered in my name, number plate fitted, etc, a full
turn key opperation. I did not even sign an application form.

But Cobber, even with that part OK, I'm getting just too damn old to
start another restoration, especially a full on one like that car, &
besides, I don't do body work.

Mate, I'm thinking of a 7 convertable. One that was no oil painting,
to use as a daily driver. It's getting too damn hard to get into the
coupe some days, & I don't like parking the 8, with its new paint
job, in car parks in town.

However it might have to be something a bit older, with a more
upright windscreen, A Triumph Herald, with a 2.0L 6 in it might do,
but cut down doors, you can step over would be good. Would I get
excommunicated from here, if I bought an MG TF, [a 1950s one] or
even a TC. I would of course, keep the 7 & 8 for good, the MG would
be just a work horse.

Don't know if you would put up with MGTF's antiquated suspension, especially on your roads. A Triumph Herald with 2.0 liter 6 is a Vitesse and you get two more headlights.

The basket case made $860 with 31 bids from 6 individual bidders. It would seem the bidding was keen.

Well the dark blue sprint engined car went for $6,400.00 with 12 bids from 4 bidders.
The light blue car (from the same seller as the sprint) went for $1,525.00 with 11 bids from 6 bidders. Judging by the pics the buyer got pretty good value there. The sprint engined car didn't look to be a $4,875 better car.

Interesting to note another TR-7 FHC basically complete, but co with visible rust, faded dog turd brown paint, poor interior and generally scruffy condition.
But the car did include a Rover V8 3.5 for possible conversion.
This car didn't raise a bid at all with the starting price set at $800.00

I have seen that car and the discription is fairly accurate. In the background of one of the pics is an orange/red tr that I bought for $860 about 6 months ago. The one I bought needed the brakes rebuilding and a few little things doing and is now almost ready for rego. It is a much better car than the brown one.
Bloody Ebay didnt show the sprint engined car on my search. Probably a good thing as I would of been very tempted to buy it.
