Master Cylinder Res Cleaning Tips?

Does anyone have any tips for cleaning the plastic brake master cylinder resevoir? This would apply to the W/S washer res and the early rad expansion tank as well. I am rebuilding a master for my 7 and the tank is grungy. The other tanks have dirt and rust stains and I would like to get them all looking better. I have tried running them through the dishwasher with little improvement. Any recommended cleaners?

Thanks,
Rich

Rich,

Someone soaked them in bleach for a couple of days. It was posted about two years ago. Might try Oxyclean.

I have been scrubbing the M/cyl with a soft toothbrush with simple green (sorry honey![B)]) with quite a bit of improvement but it didn't work on the other resevoirs. I will have to give the bleach a try.

In the dish washer, Rich.

When was the divorce, or are you still working on that, along with
cleaning the resevoir?

Someone here recommended Miltons baby fluid a while back. The stuff used for sterilising babies' feed bottles.

I haven't tried it myself as I've got a metal header tank, fitted a new uprated m/cylinder which is still clean and as for the washer bottle, well the rest of the engine bay makes it look clean........ Bleach might be a touch too caustic?

I've soaked my master brake resevoir and washer bottle in bleach (and water) over the winter while the car was up on blocks for other projects. They turned out rather well.
