Parked between other cars I see now how tiny a TR7 is.

Our cars are wider though - At least Nadge's car is. [:D]

And it makes it harder to find in a parking lot amongst all those SUV's and raised 4X4 super duty dual cab trucks.[:)]

My first attempt to embed a pic. Parking at Mt Rainier National Park. Days like this are among the best reason to drive these cars.
(But the wedge does look bigger next to my GT6....)

It's all a matter of perspective. When I was in the Air Force a friend of mine had an Austin Healey "Spridget", he hated it when I called it that, and I had a TR6. I went to his place for a visit one time and his wife came out and saw my 6 parked next to the Spridget and she said, "Your car is so big"

Often thought this, in there day they certanly looked quite wide but now, when i see, especially a FHC or an MGB gt they really do look small against the modern car
Just as the focus has become the new mondeo and the fiesta the escort/focus, which then ment they had to fill the gap with the Ka... so working on that in a few years time Ford will have to produce a new small car as the KA as it is will be the size of a focus [:D]

My 7 is twice the size I remember my Spitfire being...Or am I just twice the size I was when I had my Spitfire. At any rate as long as I fit I'll drive!

Actually for some bizzar reason parked side by side the FHC does look smaller than the Drophead.

I've noticed that also. Has to be the illusion of being longer without the top. The squared off top makes it look taller & more stubby. No offence to the FHC just an illusion.

A friend who drives an MGA refers to my TR8 as a barge. It does look big next to his MGA or my brother-in-law's Midget, but feels awfully small next to a pickup or SUV on the freeway.

Coincidently I've had a MGA in my garage for the last few days. My car is away getting rear wheel bearings done & the MG belongs to the mechanic doing the work. My garage feels half empty.
I'm just about to swap the cars now so I get to do an on road comparison. The judgement is predetermined though. [:)]
Update: TR7s are better. The A felt like stripped out Spitfire that had been restored by a carpenter. It took 10 minutes to work out how to start it (pull unlabelled black knob), find reverse & release the hand brake. Just opening the door with the side screens up is a challenge. Next time I meet someone who is racing one I'll take my hat off to them cos they feel very unsafe.
But then the young bloke at the testing station said the same thing about my 7 so there you go.

I had a 1959 MGA for 25 years. Loved the lines but the ride was a bit stiff. My 1963 MGB is MUCH softer. IMHO the TR7 feels like a modern car in comparison to both and feels much bigger but I'm still staring at Big Rig lug nuts on the freeway.
