Hi Guys
I have decided to give up on starting it and will finish the rebuild and take it to a local car electric magician to solve the mystery under the Hood.
<ul><li> </li><li> </li><li> </li></ul>
Here are some pics on the sound Proofing .
DO not ever, install it without a a wooden roller .
If you do you ??
You will find yourself at night ,screaming in agony from the small paper cuts all over your fingers ,front and back of hands.
<ul><li> </li><li> </li><li> </li></ul>
It took two boxes of DYNAMAT EXTREME. $75 US.
<ul><li> </li><li> </li><li> </li></ul>
On the windows ?
I sent out the black triangles to be painted semi-Gloss Black,
oven coated.$10 us
<ul><li> </li><li> </li><li> </li></ul>
On the windows I had a little problem with the drivers side it would get stuck in the middle.
The Pilots door opening is slightly smaller than the co-pilots.
and the Dynamet did not help it any.
I am going to work on it later.
<ul><li> </li><li> </li><li> </li></ul>
Pre-installed the electric motor to see how it will fit and i think it will work just fine.
<ul><li> </li><li> </li><li> </li></ul>
I am planning on finishing the build next week and taking it to the magician before finishing the interior:
( Carpet/ door panels and seats.
As some of you know I changed them for FIERO's seats and re-upholstered them at home.
I am placing a pic
<ul><li> </li><li> </li><li> </li></ul>
I bought the car in June 2008 and have driven it about 250 miles and it has been in My friends shop ever since
( if I leave it there any longer he will not be a friend anymore ) . I want to finish it .
Don't , don't ask how much it has cost me till now.
Way more than I expected.
But ,I am taking so much pleasure in the build .It has been Great.[:D]

Outstanding seats - but also look like they belong - the biggest compliment you'll get is that people won't notice that they're not original

They are from a Pontiac Fiero which is a 2 seater sports car you won't see in the UK. Very reminiscent of the X1/9.

Does that sound deadening stuff weigh much?

Never say die. At least not while you're still breathing.

That is just what I am doing at the moment. I have also took out the seats and rear parcel shelf, sanded, rust proofed and then POR-15. I have now put down the new sound proofing after taking all the old stuff off. Took the approach that if the metal under it was no good, I could replace it now. I am also doing the foot well too like you. Sure will be good when done.

That was my thought. When I did the floor a few years back I replaced the small sound deadening patches which were originally there with stuff from Frosts and it was pretty dense and heavy. To line the car with it would add a lot of weight (and cost!).

Nice seats. I've seen a couple of Pontiac Fieros here in the UK but never got to look inside them.

V8 DHC, single pipe exhaust with 2 x silencers. Extra soundproofing might not make any difference to mine.........

It weights less ,than the two side pieces on the front bumper I took out.
The seats weight the same ,I believe.
The sound proofing also keeps the car cooler ,something us here in south florida ,really want.
But what is a good looking ,
quite ,
cool car
good for IF IT DOESN'T START!!!!!!!!!.

Friend of mine that used to live next door had a Fiero. Those seats look really good. The interior looks like a space capsule. I can't wait to hear your impressions of how quiet it is. I was just going to do my yellow TCT with what was in there, never thought about going whole hog.

There are several reasons I decided to go and get my hands all cut up to silver up the TR:
Sound of course
keep it cool
cut down on vibration.
On expensive cars the sound of the door (slupp) when it closes that dead sound it does not linger on it just shuts.
The solidness of the opening gives you that all good googooly feeling all over as you leave the car or drop somebody off.
It has that now.
If it doesn't ???
I am going to make believe it has .
Because the neosporene that is now sticking to my keyboard will not accept that all that pain was in vain[B)]

That 'Dynamat' is so expensive [:0].
Go to your local builders merchant and get some 'roof flashing', basicly the same but it will work out so much cheaper [300mm x 10mtr =£20.00 approx].
