I took the plunge today and connected power through the cables for the first time in over two and half years and nothing caught fire [:p]. After a bit of tinkering with wires and twisting of fuses, but with no swear words at all, the headlights pop up TOGETHER and in tandem, dipped beam, main beam (with the lights on - i'll get back to that later [:(]), all indicators (inc hazards), side lights, side marker lights, reverse lights, brake lights, rear side marker lights all work [:D]. So does the wipers (all speeds, flick-wipe and park properly), starter motor, horns, heater (all speeds). I couldn't be happier.

Only snags which will need a bit of tinkering are the washer motor appears to have ceased, so 'll give that a test tomorrow with a fully charged battery but the major thing is the headlight pass - if I flick on the main beam without the lights being on, the headlights don't pop-up (I can't say if the lights actually illuminate as I forgot to check!). Is this a common problem and if so does anybody know wher I should be looking and what for? Any advice would be greatly received.

Also of note is that the dashboard lights didn't work, so all in all I've got a bit of tinkering to do and hopefully I can get this bit finished off pretty quickly. I've still got to check a few things (door light, courtesy light, heated rear window, fog lights etc but once all that's done the interior can go back in. That'll just leave the small matter of getting the engine running [:0]
