I wonder what Nulon in Aus would yhink of that, They sell a product called "Start ya *******" basically ether in a spray can. very handy if maybe a little dangerous[:D]

Back in the '60s my Dad used to use ether spray to start very recalcitrant engines especially in cold weather. It worked well. I remember his stern warning to me - one 2 second shot and that's it! Otherwise you run the risk of a backfire that will singe your eyebrows off.

I do remember-as a child - my mates father was science teacher. Very cold winter - and 'somehow' he had a big bottle of ether at home. His car wouldn't start - it had vertical carb - he poured in a generous measure and cranked it. The flames were 6 ft high from the carb ! Always impressed me - made me want to take up 'science' !! And yes -the engine did start!
