Maybe someone can come up with the correct formula for the red tartan.

Try typing in "search for hideous 1970's tartan"
I'm sure the right colours will come up![:0]

[:I] ock aye,I quite like the Mc TR tartan it was one of the things that attracted me to the car[:o)].I have just binned an all black interior for the tan and Mc TR tartan.I do look good in a mini kilt and boots though so maybe my judgement is jaded [:X].

The program doesn't have quite enough flexibility to get it exactly right (at least not in the time I'm willing to spend!), but I got pretty close

Still looking for a new copy of the real thing.

Tom-

If you can find someone to make this, we would really have something.

I don't know if this software actually mimics how real tartans are made or not.

I went out to the garage and took some measurements on the car. Surprisingly, the pattern is not quite (close but not quite) in "round" English units (like 1/8 inches or 1/16 inches). It could be in 1/32 inches, but the tape measure I was using was not that accurate.

Starting with the widest red part (just over 1/2"), the measurements are approximately:

Red 11/16" (widest red)
Black < 1/16" (the tiny edges of the red)
Red 2/16" (tiny red edging)
Black 6/16"
Red 3/16"
Black 2.5/16"
Red 3/16"
Black 33.5/16" (widest black)

In the software, the only options are 1-10. If I make 33.5 = 10 then most of the others are too small to register on the scale. If I make 1/16" = 1, then the black is only about 1/3 as big as it should be.

Bottom line, I don't think this program can get much closer to our real pattern than I have presented above. Maybe these measurements can be used to get some fabric woven.

I'd check the check for being made to millimeter specifications,
UK in the seventies was very metric, and the Wedge was no exception...
