Odd Compliment

An island resident stopped me this evening as we both met up at the local harborside wharf, which serves as our village parking lot.

He asked me if I had seen an early 80's pickup truck for sale nearby, and I replied that I had. His 16 year old daughter had urged him to "move quickly to buy that truck before that guy with all the cool cars buys it." The father told me he had to think for a while just who was his daughter referring to, until I suddenly drove by in my Spider. "That's him," she said.

The daughter likes my Corvair Monza coupe, looks askance at the Land Rovers [her father's favorites] but really LOVES my TR-7.

Remind me to send that girl a birthday card - and no, I'm not behaving like Silvio Berlusconi here :).

Just goes to show how little Jeremy Clarkson knows about what constitutes a 'cool' car. For years he based his idea of cool on what he thought Kirstin Scott Thomas would like - until he met her. He should be asking teenagers in Maine. [:)]

As per a previous thread, the kids know what they like.

No prejudice from ill informed peers.

Yes, but I would be happy to spend time with Kristen Scott Thomas. What a fabulous actress!

Perhaps she's like a ride in my TR-7?

Isn't it fantastic when others see what we do in the wedge.I am no expert I just love em.The comments I get here in the UK when I meet anyone who comments are something like."oh what a lovly tvr" or,"I had one of those with a 4.0 from the factory" or "The four door was more practical"???? The TR7 like a fine wine just gets better with age and looks as good today as when it was launched. It is good to be different and not drive a mass prouduced 'we conform' corporate box.
