Spare wires - aaaaaaaagh!

I've got a dilema - while trying to figure out how to rewire the dashboard of my 1976 (R plate) FHC, I have 2 wires coming out of the main loom but I cannot figure out what they are for.

The appear to be a matched pair, ie, live and earth for "something". One is black and orange, and the other is black and green. The HBOL wiring diagram identifies those colour wires as full throttle cut-off and choke cut-off (or air-con, something like that).

I have no component in that area that looks like it needs 2 wires, all other wires and components appear to be sorted. Does anybody have any ideas what these wires are for, or should the feed through the bulkhead, or what! Any help would be greatly appreciated, as always.

Green/Black goes to the fuel gauge from the sender and Orange/Black goes from the fuel gauge sender go to the delay unit then light green/red to the low fuel light.

Where are the wires situated when the loom is in the car (picture would help)?
If you're lucky there is a label attached to it somewhere with the part number, so you can check if it is the correct loom.
I pressume your car is UK spec?

Cheers guys. I'll have a look at the fuel gauge, but I think my fuel gauge is fed from the printed circuit card on the rear of the console. It's trying to find where these cables plug into that's confusing me - they have standard spade connections. Wish I'd labelled them!!

I have a picture and will post it in the next couple of days (typically it's at home and I'm away).

Thanks again, any more ideas greatly appreciated.
