The Heavy steering really anoys me but I love my car so much it is a small price to pay. (Going to fit bearings to the struts in a few weeks so hopefully will be better)

I don't like the way the wipers park up so high on the wind screen.

Is there a way to fix that?

Yep. Lift the arms of the drive spindles & put them where you want. They are only held there by friction. The driver's side has the extra angle adjuster arm which may need to be loosened & readjusted to keep the blade angle level when parked.

Assuming that they are parking at the bottom of their sweep. If they're not then doing what you said will make them sweep off the bottom of the windscreen in use! If that is the case then the problem is the run/stop switch in the wiper motor.

There's nothing that I wish I could change, I've changed everything I don't like already!

To resurrect this thread, I have to add a few things now that I'm becoming more familiar with these cars...

The location of the coil - idiotic! You can't get to the bolts unless you're Plastic Man and the bracket for holding it is going to get splashed and rusted making it even MORE difficult to get it loose. Arrrrhgggg!!!

What imbecile decided it would be a good idea to put a 'mini skid plate' between the engine and transmission and then to WELD the plate to the oil pan and sandwich a large heavy duty exhaust bracket between the bracket and the transmission??? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

The bolts holding the seats to the floor - what, regular head bolts aren't good enough, you have to use bolts that need a hex key to attach them? Of course you do since there's little room to manuever it. Grrrrrrr...

Thanks for allowing me to vent...

Aaron get yourself a hex key socket set. Many of the other problems concerning mechanical quirks can be solved by performing a V8 conversion. [8D]

Electronic ignition is a way to solve the problem.

The worst thing about our wedges, for me, is that they are so damn
addictive. As a clapped out old bugger, I really can't afford to
have 3 registered cars on the road, but could not part with a wedge.

The 7, & 8 are so different, I could never choose between them, & I
need a large car for towing, the occasional group of people, &
working around the farm. I really don't want to use one of my
Triumph's to take a pump down to the river.

Can't think of much else I don't like.

fuel filler cap my pet hate too, my son has an mx5 and i like the flip cover on that and am looking into how hard it would be to modify and fit one to the tr, also decided to weld up the holes in the rear for the marker lights, ok, know will not win any prizes like that but i like smoother lines, old school custom car reader....

Do you not have a Classic plate program in Oz where you pay for one plate and insurance and swirch it to whatever car you want to drive?
In four more years my Tercel wagon 4x4 that I use only for winter will qualify and with Integra as "dailey driver" $200/year will cover the Tercel, 3 TR7's and two Spitfires (when I get to restoring them)[:I]

No, nothing like that spyder. Our state registeration charge
includes a third party personal injury insurance scheme, & goes on
the number of cylinders.

With a pensioner discounton the 7, [on one car only] my charges are,
TR7, $470
Toyota, $680 [6 cylinder]
TR8, $860.
Total, $2010

These are to go up by 30% next month, along with petrol by 9c/litre,
due to our state government being broke, due to incompetence.

Comprehensive car insurance is not so bad, with them all on the one
pollicy,

TR7, $310
TR8, $390
Toyota, $190
Mazda 2, $410, [Wifes modern].

WE do have a classic registeration system, but per car, nothing as
enlightened as yours, & too restrictive for my use.

So you can see, it's kind of expensive owning too many road cars, up
here in the deep north of Oz.
