Your right, I completely forgot! Now you've reminded me I recall that nobody went much on the gold wheels at the time but more seem in favour now. I've already said that not spoiling the car is a priority so have no fear on that.

I'm guessing that it is the same as my Italian brochure but with french text. I'm trying to find the time to scan the images and get them on my website. If I don't get this done before, if you are coming to Stoneleigh Tony any chance you could bring it with you?

I certainly hope to be at Stoneleigh, Steve. 99% sure I will be there, just have to extricate myself from a charity event on the same day which I have managed to double book for myself[:I]

I have an English text version of the same brochure as well, if it is of interest.

Knowing the time and effort Dick put into it, if it where mine I would keep it as is, a bit of history that should hopefully appreciate. When I catch up with Dick I will speak to him about photos, etc.

Thanks... when I collected the car from Dick he was very forthcoming with info and anecdotes etc. however I would have needed a tape recorder in order to remember most of it. He gave me the paperwork, some photo's and a couple of press cuttings. A few weeks later a CD of one of the Willhire 24hr races arrived. This was all very acceptable of course but I am keen to expand upon this as much as possible. I do love provenance etc.

I also love the car, even in it's currently mostly stationary state. Anticipation is often the best part of something and I do look forward to the day I can drive it, preferable not on the public road!

I can't wait to see the car again Steve... it's one of the best I've ever seen. It also drives pretty well with exceptional brakes! It also has the tightest bucket seat imaginable if I remember correctly.

Thinking about it I have video of that little trip round the business park... now where did I put it??? Could be one for YouTube perhaps.

When the car was changed to right hand drive should the roll bar diagonal behind the driver's seat have been changed too?

I would keep it the way it is with the exception of perhaps changing the wheels to minilite, keeping and strring the originals as is.

Nice car.

Dick had so many gold steel wheels that I took some but left the rustier ones behind! Interesting point about the diagonal. The lhd to rhd conversion was presumably done by Safety devices at the same time they put the cage in.

Suprisingly Dick had only just become aware of the cars previous publicity life around the time he sold it. He seemed unaware that the car had ever been red or lhd. This a car rebuilt 3 times during his ownership.

In fact the car spent the majority of it's life painted maroon and this can still be seen under the bonnet, boot and cabin, the car's sponsor's colours during the "Willhire years".

The "Publicity Years" are fun but the important history of the car really revolves around it's racing career with Dick. This is an area that is still relatively unknown to me at least.

I'm thinking I might have a "Book of Rememberance" with the car at Stonleigh and see if I can dig up some more history/people who remember the car.

Spent hours messing with the camera/scanner/ftp/web etc. etc. and got some more images up. I was supposed to be sorting out my Income Tax for The Inland Robbery, deadline next week... Tax doesn't have to be Taxing...

This is MYE in for a pitstop, Willhire 24hrs.. don't know which year.

Maybe not the best of pictures, but always great to see period pictures of racing (or rallying) TR7's [:)]

Just found on eBay. (Australia!) Kids Swap Card from Dandy Bubble Gum (Denmark). Shows previously unknown picture of MYE778P? This picture is not in the launch brochure and although the male and female models look the same their outfits are different (from memory) and the location of the shot is different. Purchased to add to the other paperwork!
