I'd stripe a 7 in a heartbeat if I could ever find a high-res picture so that I could match the "Southern Skies" special edition striping and logo that were put on a few cars in the southern US back in late 1976/early 1977. But I stupidly bought the regular unadorned car (didn't have any money) and I haven't seen one in over 30 years, apart from the few pix of one in a junkyard somewhere in North Carolina.

Hey - that's my $20 car, the third one down with the win this car sign on the windshield.. I won it in a charity raffle last year. The hubcaps are gone and I replaced the tires but other than that have done little to the car. It works great.

I never liked the swage line of the TR7 and always thought it should be eliminated, or at least played down. Now that I own a car with the swage line accented with a stripe my opinion has changed completely. Except for a rally rep colour scheme the only stripe I would consider is the one along the swage line like on my car. My 2 cents worth - worth no more than that.

I bought my car in 1982 when it was just 10 months old and it had been fitted with the body striping kit from new which I think was a dealer fitted Leyland 'accessory'. I just can't imagine my car without the stripes - they make the shape look sleeker and take the focus away from the swage line which I think detracts from the looks. Because I'm so used to seeing mine, if I see a Midas gold TR without the body stripes it looks 'bald' to me.

Some (not very good) pictures of my car awaiting some tlc to get it back on the road....

My Java car has the same dealer fit stripes as Dans, I have some sections of new old stock stripe kit but may have to get a grafix company to replicate it as I would hope to put the stripe back on after paint.

Edit - Just checked Rimmers site and it says this stripe kit is available to order now
