on the note of polishing
when I got my wheels I tried all sorts to clean them up, autosol, autoglym metal polish, duroglite (not spelt right)to name but a few.
It does hurt your fingers after a while and why did I bother they never came up better than this:

until I bought this little piece of kit this was 5 mins worth of polishing & so at weekend I may have to spend a little more time but look at the shine:

I decided yesterday it was time to give my car scrub up again, seen as though I'm going to a local car show on Sunday Farmer pars @ fleetwood
this time i used a clay bar whooooowhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa smoooooooooooooooothhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! isn't the word
it was a small piece given to me to try from a local supplier and well worth the effort and followed by the usuall bag of bits
I then took it for a good run around all the country lanes surrouding Blackpool with the hood down in the glorious <s>rain</s> [8D][8D]SUNSHINE[8D][8D]

I'ts here at last and its hotter than spain apparently........
I'll now have too wash it again to get rid of all the flies that are now stuck to the nose cone before i go too the show, Thats why i need a car bra........

It rides again..... and again wehey!!!!!!!

<font color="teal"><b>I have never tried the clay bar I have heard nothing but good things

Question:

would that not wipe off all the layers of polish we have lovingly put on ?

As for the car bra I have one but I only use it for long journeys

and always take it off if it rains otherwise you trap moisture between the furry lining and the paintwork </b> </font id="teal"> Image

Claying makes all the difference Steve.
Try the cellophene test, get a peice of cellophane(the type that cd's are wrapped in and gentle rub it over your paintwork. It'll feel like sandpaper, clay that area and rub the cellophane over again and it will just glide over [:D]

The clay removes all the crap from the paint surface to give you a super clean base to then polish. When I owned a car grooming business (never again!) we used it with spray wax to lubricate it but you should then use a proper wax to finish the job. It was excellent at removing overspray caused by sloppy paint jobs. We did one job where painters working on a multi-storey building had left a dozen cars in a sales yard below them covered in flecks of paint. The clay took care of the flecks but our elbows & shoulders had had enough after 3 days. [xx(]

I could never wear a bra & wouldn't expect my car to either![:)]

to answer your question with question stevie.........
can we afford to leave all that old wax/polish on our cars with all those bits of crap stuck in it swirling around eveytime we wash 'n'wax........

If i hadn't been given this small piece to try I probably wouldn't have bothered, when i wax a polish the car it always feels silky smooth but not this silky and smooth "WAYNE YOUR RIGHT OBSESIVE & COMPULSEIVE"...........BUT IT WORKS, I just wish my paint was up to scratch still it stays outside in all weathers and seasons so I can't expect perfection all I'm after is clean & presentable

I will buy some clay and considering the amount i used and its the sort of thing most of us will only use a couple of times a year its value for money as long as they have a good shelf life...

It rides again..... and again wehey!!!!!!!
