Not a green car fan, except for Triton, and a little bit Poseidon Green and not Java but your Java looks brighter sunshine or no. I like it. Does this make me a green car fan?

Now look what you've done Beans...now everybody is powder coating their suspension parts.[:D]

Must resist... must resist...must resist.

See you are using the Watt's linkage from a Rover SD1.
Curious how you are going to attach the two ends to the body ...

So am I at the minute![?][:p]

Actually making some cardboard mock ups at the mo, my thinking is very similar to how the group A Escort boys do it, actually these appear to work so next step is to make one using high tensile steel sheets. When its mocked I will post a picy![:D][8]

Does the length of the bars or the position of the pivot have an impact on the handling? On this car it looks to be well off-centre.

That's exclusive to this very small part of the world indeed [:p]

B.t.w. the Escort (an RS2000) is from a friend, who owns the workshop.
Also has a Mk2 (well sort of) and ... vlaai [:D]

OK next stage, rear arms complete with adjustments top and bottom to stop the lowered springs from dropping, as I did on a number of occasions last year! Setup copied from Chris Turners 'TUD' car during last years Castle Coombe rally day. (Thanks Chris)![:p][8]

Now a question on this, Shorter springs seem to be on a fair number of 7s however the dampers are then just standard causing a number of issues. As can be seen if these were just assembled then the first time the wheel was lifted off the ground the location of the bush would change causing the bush and the bearing to move. When placed back on the ground this would destroy both the bearing and the bush and potentially create a safety issue on the front sus, (not to mention the cost of the items in the first place. Needless to say its another trip down the machine shop. Even if you used the Ford items you would still appear to experience the same issue as per ODDs thread. Any ideas anyone? [:(!][8]

Hi,

What you need are a couple of 'spring helpers' They are basically softer short springs that fit on top of your springs, when the car is lowered, they compress flat, but when the car is lifted they apply a force to keep the bushings in place.

Merlin Motorsport sell them.

Cheers, Dave
