Just had a set of Firestone snow tires installed on the Spider for winter driving. I took it for a snow-covered road drive - the tires do a good job of biting into the snow.

Firestone winterforce by chance??

Possibly one of the best looking snow tires I seen in long time, and from what I hear a very good performer for the money ....we've been moving so many here in the shop this winter, it will easily be my best seller in the tire department!

Hey.... Does this count???

I had a white Christmas once!

It was 7 years ago, was mountain climbing in New Zealands Southern Alps around Mount Cook.

After a five daysclimbing, including Christmas day, we went to the beach!

Sounds like a typical West Coast Christmas week (last year was aberation with snow). Go skiing up the mountains in the morning and windsurfing in the afternoon. As you can see in just snapped picture of my temp winter leanto for Integra, it's sunny, above freezing and no snow. It is easily disassembled and I don't have to back out the Spider till Spring as I use this time to work on it. Gas tank check/refurb and POR-15 rear suspension while it'a out (after done with electrical work in house/garage.)

Yes, SilverSeven, that's the tire I had installed on the car. It does look good in terms of tread pattern and directional center.

I don't drive the car very far, or very much, during the winter, so these tires should last a long time. And running snow tires forces you to rotate tires for longer life in general.

cool choice Jeff, I didn't know they made them in the 13" sizes, I'd love to have some feed back from you on wear and how you enjoyed them over the winter! I've also heard they like harder/higher tire pressures, it would be interesting if you wanted to experiment with them [;)]

I will keep tabs on mileage and report to you after the winter. As for tire pressure, I did notice that on a spirited drive recently on bare roads, the car seemed to squirm a a bit. So I would like to increase the tire pressure. On the other hand, too much pressure and you reduce the effectiveness of snow tires.

But if I take it out on the mainland on bare roads, I will try higher pressures to firm up the tire. The width is also slightly less in the rear than in the fronts because I could not find the same tire dimensions in a snow tire.

It's actually snowing here tonight. The forcast was for rain and 40 degree temps. It was kind of a surprise when I got up at 6pm and there was a nice fluffy coating on everything. Even the front drive Maxima was slipping around a bit on the way to work. So much for keeping it up on the mountain.

Interesting. I recently installed a pair of Firestone winter tires on the rear of my TR7 and the handling went all soft and vague. I'm not sure if I have the same model Firestone but will try running them a little harder.

That's what they say but I run my all season tires at 32/34 range on my Tercel and never had any problem in heavy snow including going up the Malahat in deep snow or getting up my steep driveway when icy (situations that my front wheel drive Colt with chains couldn't handle). Mind you that's with non slip 4 wheel drive engaged. I've yet to meet a situation it can't handle so won't be getting snow tires even though they are required over Malahat now when snow, Just won't go. I wouldn't think of driving in snow with Spider. (Shades of driving the '71 Javelin in snow).

Picture is last year (no snow this year).
