If you have a problem finding someone to fix your car, Id suggest checking with Triumph or British car clubs. Dont have to be local to you, but there is always someone who can help. Sorry to hear of you crash, but glad to hear your OK.

On the same note; if the main frame is bent, you may be better off buying another good body and transplanting your good parts. Seriously may be cheaper. (I just picked up two TR7's, one for $400.00 & one for $500.00!)

My FHC looked more or less the same when I bought her as a total write in 1994.
Back on the road in 1997 and still going strong ...

Frame unibody can be straightened to a small degree. All the rest can be fixed . . . ahhh, with time mostly to find parts. Good luck.

Glad you are okay.

I did notice last night the Moss Motors USA carries sheet metal parts for the front of a TR7.

They are at

A little bit of an update: The other insurance company's appraiser came by today to take some pics and give the 7 a look over. He says that they may consider it a total loss. Gotta wait until Wednesday or so for their final decision.

If they call it a total loss, ask them (politely, depending on your coverage) to provide you with a suitable replacement [}:)]

LOL I wish! I'll wait and see how much they offer, if their offer is anywhere in the same zip code as the fair market value then I'll just take the money and run. I got the car basically for free from my father's friend a little over a year ago. He had stored it in a warehouse for about 2 years before we took it home. So whatever money I can get from the insurance company will just be icing on the cake.

Make your next wedge a V8. Then you'll arrive early for the next accident & miss it. Budda bing!

still don't know how you would let them scrap a good running car though......

Couldn't you buy the car back, and repair it with the settlement cash????

you can'tave 'em all.....unless you don't try. Sorry about your mishap, but I'm really uncomfortable with our throw away attitude, pretty soon they will all be gone. I've hammered out dings and pulled and welded bent sheet metal, and it's easier than fixing rust when the part just ain't there.

YES. Usually 10% "salvage value" for a total loss. So if the total loss offer to you is $8,000, then you say you want the salvage, the insurance deducts 10 percent, = -$800. You keep the car and get a check for $7,200. Remember I said "usually". Anyway, play the rules for top dollar on the value of your car, then after all that is done, tell them that you want to keep the salvage. I usta do this, long ago.

Humanoid,

Has he made his final decision? Any offer yet? [?]

You could have the body shell straightened on a frame rack with the money coming your way. Final finishing could be done at your choice.

Good luck. [:)]

Conclusion: The other insurance company decided to pay up... $6200USD and I took it. The towing company took away the 7. She was a fun ride while she was here, she'll be missed.

Glad you got your pay out.You can't drive $6000 on a sunny day and love it though[:p].The production of the 7 stopped in 1981 there are no more when it's gone it's gone. Some will strip a car for parts to make a quick buck or go and get another just to avoid some restoration work. The pool of good ones is not infinate with classics they have to be pretty far gone for me to throw em away.
