Hasbeen-Perfect example of live axle versus solid axle is when Group 44 TR8s running against big and small block corvettes in IMSA & SCCA Trans Am. The TR8 won more races with a solid axle on oval and road courses. It was to the point of adding 400lb ballast to the car or reclassing it! The set up is nothing complex either! It has a 4-link, watts-linkage and adjustible sway bar nothing else. In other words........your right!

WOW!

You guys are awesome! Thank you all for the amazing insight and help. Interesting thoughts on keeping the axle.

I've had this car for a long, long time and I really like the attention it gets - I know there are many other cars to choose from TR's to others, mine is paid for[:D] So this is the one I can happily tinker with.... My ultimate goal is to convert it to a v8. Hence the long-term IRS thinking.

I'm very glad to be at this site.

Thanks again everyone!
