Just came across the following period photo by Norman Hayes of John Buffum competing in the 1981 RAC Rally:

Captioned: Car No. 24 John Buffum and co-driver Neil Wilson Triumph TR7 V8 Hamsterley Forest N0.2 same day as previous photo but heavy snow on S.S. 25 Hamsterley which was 12 miles long. John Buffum (USA) battled his way round only to retire on S.S. 39 Brycheiniog with a blown engine
