Spitting radiator hose

Postby tracie » 12 Apr 2010 20:16

Hi all
Having an anoying problem
The top hose on the radiator has a slight leak
The radiator is new as is the hose lesding to it, i have pushed it home well and fixed the hose well with a good quality jubilee clip, it doesn't matter how hard i tighten it
it still spits a bit.
does anyone suggest some sort of silicone first?
These hoses are quite tricky, any advice would be welcomed
Thanks

These hoses usually shouldn’t be a problem.

It is possible that you need to retighten the clips slightly after the coolant system gets warm for the first time.
But be careful to over tighten the clips, this can damage the hoses.

Check the inside of the hose and the connecting tube on radiator for damaged spots, imperfections or dirt.

I've used mastic sealer for such eventualities in the past.
