Polishing alloy wheels

The standard alloys on my 7 are very dull, i'd like to polish them (funds for new wheels are very tight now!) but i'm not sure if they're coated. What's the norm with renovating alloys?

Yes, they have a clear coat. I had mine soda blasted and then power coated.. I had another set that they messed up and sand blasted. I just painted those with wheel color.
