Once upon a time...blah,blah,blah,

Postby paul w » 20 May 2009 23:36

Long story,abridged....only the names have been changed to protect the
guilty!
Drove the nasty red Grinnall over to my mate R## today. He had got his
v8 running and told me he needed a new battery,so could we shoot up to
B##sport.Well,i was'nt gonna argue,so we jumped in his v8 and up to
Shepreth without any problems.Had a cuppa'with Si'and i took the oppo'
to look round the wedges there, some scabby-

some cool-

but R##s wuz the best in show!-

He buys the battery,so off we go." mile down the road on the A505 the
wedge shudders to a halt.Tried to start it up,no dice, battery is dead.
Just as well we got the new one.Swap'em over and away we go-sorted...
...NOT!Car starts to loose power,esp.uphill.A quick nose around reveals cloudy brown fuel in the filter. As luck would have it,R##s got
a new filter in the boot,so another swap and a prayer to get home-
NO DICE!We get about 3 miles this time before filter clogs.8ugg3r!
called the R#C,waited 2 hours for a tow home.-
Image
Lookin'forward to fitting a new tank with R## soon, but he gonna need a
lift in the Nasty red wedge on Sunday to the Duxford Triumph show.
I really need to drop a bl00dy TR7 back axle like i need a hole in the
head!I remember the last time, bit like electro shock therapy-you never
forget it-

Happy days........

See ya',Paul.

Nothing worse than being kicked while you're down, mate. These things come in 3s, 4s sometimes 5s but by then you're escorted out of public view so hope your luck turns soon.

That must have been one mother load of rust out of the tank to block up the replacement fuel filter so quickly..............

Mine were clogged up by the stealth method whick took months.
