Why camping?

Postby Odd » 24 Apr 2009 16:48

So guys,
now I've seen yet one more ad for a Triumph car meet in Britain advertised as a 'Camping event'.
I must admit I'm somewhat amazed by this: Your camping type club (and non-club) meetings...
Could someone please elaborate and enlighten me about this - in a adverse summer climate as yours...
If we'd announce a Triumph meet in Sweden as a camping based meet we'd get a handful of participants - at best.
And that'd be the true anoraks...

If we don't offer hotel/hostel venues (at least basic hotel type living) the bulk of the ordinary members don't show up.
An interresting difference, indeed! I wonder, is this difference in the members of the clubs or is it in something else?
Comments?

Hi,
Its easy to find your hotel room when drunk BUT try doining the same in a field, pitch black, in the rain surounded by other tents there in lies the challenge [;)]
Never managed to go to Glastonberry and come back with a tent, always go with one but never return with one!!!! BUT never spent a night under the stars there either [;)] [:p]
Cheers John

We bought £100 worth of camping stuff when our son was young (10 years ago)intended on using it for lots of cheap holidays & ended up using it twice for one night a piece at locations within 3 miles of home. THEN, when we got the 7, all of a sudden, "lets go a show so we can camp" & we've been twice-yes it rained both times(but if everyones wearing anoraks you can't tell who the real "anoraks"are) mmm..so effectively we have used the camping stuff more since we got the 7 as we've used it twice in 12 months..funny thing is, as of course the car is only two seats, we can't take our son with us now anyway [:)]Shame! When our club goes down to Portland in September for All British Fild Meet, some go camping, some go motel. In the end it's all adventure.
