Postby birminghamtr7 » 10 Apr 2009 08:49

where can i get new footwell rubber / plastic thats sits in the footwell. or is it just a standard generic rubber mat pattern.
as you can see mine is poorly. btw i have sorted carpet discolour out, with a dye it was almost white with sun damage where it had been exposed.

well isn`t it a better idea to buy a new carpet set?

The money that goes into restoring it, is almost the same as a new set i think. New carpet set at rimmerbros is about 100Gbp.

Im sure there are companies near you that reproduce wedge carpeting, no? There is a place near here in New Jersey(USA) that reproduces wedge carpeting. I just bought a set (in red) for my TR7. They sell their carpet kits on Ebay all the time.

There are companies that do TR7 carpet kits in grey, just not from the usual suspects. Not sure what shade of grey but better than black if your restoring a Spider or customizing another 7. Jusy like there are comanies that do hoods in different colours than that normally available from Rimmers, Moss etc. Just do a google search.

it is the carpet out my spider the carpet is in great condition and as it should be colour is pewter. and more of a shag pile than a standard wool. my friends describes it as a carpet you'd find in a bathroom. Its nice and original and i doubt i,d find another moulded carpet like this. and my car is now rhd so have always intended to take footwell plastic out and put on the correct side [:)] just want it to look as good as i can after taking so long to get this far. ive set myself a target for end of May.... wish me luck

I have a gray kit in mine from Rimmer. Has sort of a brown cast to it...cut pile. First kit I had on the original redo came from Prestige. It was more gray but faded badly. I had the seats done in black vinyl with charcoal velour inserts and a set of NOS black Spyder door trims. I wasn't looking at originality just a more modern look than the blue plaid.
