In my humble opinion.

Robsport - Friendly advice and service plus they are 40 miles of A roads away from me. I can give the 7V8 a run out and collect my parts at the same time - a bonus. Prices competitive.

S & S - As above except they aren't a short drive from London. Shame!

Rimmers - Terrific catalogue and on line diagrams but usually more expensive. Too far away for collection. I order parts when they have one of their regular offers or no-one else has them. Otherwise fine. I did get a bit of a run around getting a refund when something arrived damaged. It wasn't intentional on their part but unlike the others where the same guy takes your order, packs it and posts it, Rimmers had several people involved. Maybe that's where they fall down sometimes as the service can't be so personal due to their size.

James Paddock - Were really helpful when I needed a complete s/h heater box and rumaged around in their stores whilst I was talking to them. It was in better nick than one I'd bought elsewhere as a recon. Haven't used them that often though.

Steph, that's nice of you to offer transport. I was really disapointed with EBC, telling me they couldn't be sourced here. The place I found them listed is called PerfectBrakes.com. They were the exact opposite to deal with. Fella named Joe emailed me back & forth several times. I explained what they fit and useage. Turns out he has a 74 MGB he is working on. He checked with the California distributor and said he indeed could special order. The quote was something like $70.00 and $7.00 shipping. Place is very close to me...actually only a few hours drive in the next state over. Meanwhile I then found out the ones were on thier way from the UK. $108.00 and $40.00 shipping. And they sent them via regular mail. Took more than 2 weeks to arrive. For $40 , I would think a set of pads could have been shipped UPS. Oh well, I suppose I now have a lifetime supply of brake pads.[:D]

I was happy to help with the illegal import of parts[:p].I am finding that a quirk with classic cars of any marque is that 60% of people who you do business with have the attitude "buy it or not see if I care, where else are you gonna go" And the other 40% can't be more helpful. The trick is weeding out the great 40%.
My car is in a garage nr me for work.I needed an oil problem sorting, water leak looking for,new fuel tank(full of rust and sand) and a government saftey test MOT(minestry of transport test) The guy has had my car about 6 weeks and has done nothing yet[:(!].He is supposed to be a triumph expert so I took it to him but never again. He asked for £400 last week to cover parts as he was worried I would'nt pay.Lets just say CASH ON DELIVERY was mentioned.I may be a small female but I have brothers so don't mess with me [:D]
