How blonde am I?[:X] I missed the triumph day at stonliegh but had tickets for the 'race retro show' that was on this weekend 13,14,15 march.I wonderd why there were only two triumphs in the show one promoting a car cover system and only having 1/4 of it's nose visable and a nice grey tr8 with blue interior in the car park.I did see Tony Ponds rally car do a few circuits though.I am so annoyed with myself though going to the wrong show[:(!] .When and where is the next Triumph show? I need a load of spares.I just presumed 'stonliegh show' thats the one.No wonder it was full of old farts in hacking jackets and aston martins! Did have some nice minis as it was 50 yrs of the mimi.A restored MK1 cooper s was for sale at £17,000[:0] I'll have two then.[:D]

Ooooooooops!

Never mind at least Race Retro was worth visiting although hot the place for the spares you were looking for [:(]

Went along on Saturday myself. Since the weather was nice decided to go in OVC instead of the planned daily driver. I followed the route I always take to the main gate (the route avoids most of the queues [;)]) to find no queue at all but signs saying it was the VIP and exhibitors entrance. "Oh bother" I thought now I've come to the wrong gate and will have to go another way and get in the queues. Anyway, nothing ventured, nothing gained I drove up to the gate and said to the guy there "looks like I've come to the wrong gate" for him to say "no mate, you're in a classic you can come in this way, there's reserved parking near the halls for classics." Result! So straight in, no queueing and a car park not far from the doors [:D]

Gordon, you drove straight past me on your way into the classic car parking, had just been admiring the Strato's and the Dolly Sprint. Although I had aquired free tickets to get in on both Friday and Saturday I thought the show a bit poor and had I paid £25 to get in I would have been more disappointed.

Enjoyed looking this over and watching it on the live stages.

Paul, the rally car above belongs to TRDC member Paul Hunter, was going well on the stage when a bracket broke on the rear axle on the Sunday. He will be back out again at the Chatsworth rally day.

Paul, you should have come and said hello.

I did have to pay to get in but purchased tickets in advance so only paid £15 for the Saturday tickets and not the on the door price. Not cheap but I do enjoy this show apart from the previously mentioned "old farts in hacking jackets" who seems to stand in huge groups blocking the corridors between the stalls.

Amazing the difference in the "feel" of the halls from the previous week. As well as the main halls race retro does use a couple of the same "cowsheds" as the spares day but somehow makes the whole thing feel more upmarket and less shed like. I think maybe the fact that they had the heaters on and that the sun was shining helped [8D]
