Which S/S Exhaust Specialist would you recommend?

Postby busheytrader » 09 Mar 2009 20:12

Hi,

My original mild steel system single pipe system has finally rotted past the point of no return. It's probably not a bad thing since it's got several patches, grounds too easily on speed bumps and at motorway speeds the noise does my head in.

The general consensus on this forum is that none of the V8 off the shelf systems fit properly, so no change there after 20 years. As said by some here, "they only fit where they touch". I don't have the equipment to make one of these fit properly and if I pay someone else to do it, I might as well buy a bespoke system. Luckily Santa agreed to buy me a bespoke S/S exhaust system this year but she didn't have an endless budget. Hence the mild steel manifolds are staying put.

Someone here recommended http://www.pro-speedexhausts.com in Cardiff. They were really helpful over the phone and talked freely about what they could do. I'm weighing up the options of a quiet single or twin pipe system that won't sap away the power.

I tried a few others closer to North West London from adverts in Practical Classics but must have got through to their sales prevention officers. One gave me a price about double that of ProSpeed and the other three never got back to me with their estimates. So much for needing the business in a recession.

Has anyone here had a bespoke system made for their 7 or 7V8? Would you recommend your fabricator?

Cheers,

Adam
