I am so depressed.

Postby FI Spyder » 02 Jan 2009 01:37

I am so depressed I missed this auction.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=290283383969

I thought it might help to write about it. I screwed up trying to bid at last minute and missed the auction.

- I know my wife said I don't need another car.
- I'd have to leave my daily driver out in the elements.
- With all the snow on the ground I'd have to leave it at it's location till warm weather returned.
- I'd have to go over on the ferry a second time (Xmas holidays the fist time) to get it (another $85.00)
- I'd have to clean up engine bay to qualify it for collector's plates. (lots of work).
- I'd have to do the seats, foam, rubber, covers (more money).
- I've still got two winters worth of work to do on the Spider.
- I might not have won it even if I got my bid in on time.

But I'm still depressed about it. (Spring would help).

I'd love a set of those rims! I never knew American made them in the TR7 bolt circle.

You have to have your ebay search set up for "Available to USA" and then the person who puts in the ad has to state that item is available to USA.

Although I get some ads from UK and USA I don't get all of them.

Unfortunately I don't know where they were purchased it would have been pre 1999 as that's when the car was painted then left in heated storage by the paint shop as the owner abandoned the car and didn't pay for the paint.

A club member ordered some wheels from Phoenix that are imported from New Zealand. They are blanks and they will machine in bolt pattern to your specs. Can't remember the name of the company. The wheels where pretty competitively priced as you can imagine they don't have to carry a whole bunch of inventory.

I saw a set of those rims about a year ago in Phoenix (Scottsdale). A guy who had a LOT of tr7 parts was moving so he had a tr7 part garage sale. I was temped to buy them, but I had just purchased rims for my car.

I still kick myself for not buying a lot of stuff at that garage sale.

I still have the e-mail address for the guy who had the garage sale if you want to try and research the rims.

If you want it that bad contact the guy Merv and make him an offer. You never know...

I think he might be bulling the car up a bit in the description in comparison to the photos though.

Cheap enough though.

As the auction is over he is obligated to sell it to winner. I did leave a message after and let my phone numbers and saying if buyer didn't show up with the money I'd take over the bid. Haven't heard from him though. There's always another one (maybe). Still kicking myself in the butt.

Dontcha' love people like that!! A few years ago I sold one of my TR7's to a guy like 30miles from me. When he needed cash, and I was able to buy, he put the 7 up for sale. I knew what it was worth from all the work I'd done, but even more so because he neglected the poor car. He wouldnt (still to this day!) accept my offer, and is letting the poor 7 waste away on a side street in Philly, rather than drop his price $800.00 for me!
