How do you brace a DHC shell for restoration ?

Postby Dave Dyer » 06 Dec 2008 18:53

Hi All,

I've stripped my Grinnall down to just a shell and I'm about to put it on my body roller/spit, but I can remember something about bracing the door openings ? Is this right and if so how/where does the bracing go ?

Thanks,
Dave

Dave, you will need to fabricate a bar and weld it to the A and B posts
on each side.I guess you may be able to bolt it to hinge/lock locations
with a bit of ingenuity.
Heres a site that shows some of this -

See ya. Paul

Thanks Paul for that, not a bad site, plenty of other info on there as well.
I was hoping not to weld any bracing, I could attach it one end to the hood mounting, not sure about the other end. It needs to be right as I don't want to cause any damage, theres enough of that underneath to sort out already!!
