Quote of the day!!!

Postby Yoke » 06 Nov 2008 19:26

So this is from my friendly Napa parts guy who is a classic chev, ford collector, now keep in mind that I deal mainly in VW's and I'm constantly calling him to track down elusive TR7 parts.

"We are going to have to give you a foreign enema to get all the shit out of your system!!!"[:D]

I almost pissed myself laughing, only this time I was calling him on a 63 chev impala and boy did I make his day[;)]

At least your local NAPA guy has a sense of humour.

Back east I used to use NAPA all the time for parts for my MGB and Spitfire and the guys at the store were great to deal with; something different and a challenge at times. Now living in Ontario, the guys at the local NAPA have no sense of humour at all; maybe the chemicals in the air have distroyed their humour genes.

I rarely use NAPA as it's a few blocks out of the way. I sometimes use Lordco as our car club has an up to 40% discount with them. Mostly though I use a local Company, Duncan Auto Parts as the guys are very helpful, I have a discount account with them, one of our car club members works for them. One Sunday afternoon I went in there to get a Fram oil filter for my Spitfire (Yah, I know Fram is lousey but I had a part number for it.) The old guy behind the counter said, "lets try looking under Crossland" and I walked out with an oil filter for a fraction of the cost of the Fram. Most guys behind the counter would have said "Spitfire? Who makes that?"

See that's the kind of parts guy you want to deal with. The guy that will go out of his way to find the part you need and for the least amount out of your pocket book.

I told my parts guy if he wasn't carefull I was going to go out and buy a Porsche 914 or a Fiat x19 wouldn't you know it he hung up on me [:D]
