Covent Garden is cool, street performers, places to eat and drink as well theatres and the London Transport Museum.

Get a tube ticket that allows you to travel all day then you hop on and off at will, nowhere in central London is far from a tube station, and you cant beat that 5pm cattle truck experience as everyone heads for home [;)]
Only live 30miles up the M1, dont get down there that often typical when you have something on your door step!!
