Rust remover on rusty parts

I just soaked some parts in some lime and rust remover for sinks. It seems to work great on heavily rusted parts. My question is, I want to remove all the rust from the front strut spindles(the bottom end with the spindle) because the back side has a lot of junk in it that you can't get at other wise. Would the spindle (where the bearings go on) be affected by soaking it in there for 3-4 days? I don't want to throw the tolerances off on the mating surfaces. There is no rust on the spindle mating surfaces, just on the bottom housing with the recessed cavity. I'm thinking it would be OK.

I wouldn't recommend soaking machined surfaces (the mating surfaces for the bearing and ball joint). There will be some degree of pitting. How much (and how visible) depends on what you are using. If you can't soak only the rusty bit and leave the machined surfaces out of the soup then I suggest media blasting.

I would dismantle strut to do any derusting, no short cuts here. Sandblasting if you got it or the money to get it done, you have to dismantle to get it all and not get particles in machined parts. Acids like vinegar will do it the weaker the slower or liquids specifically designed for it like POR-15's Metalready. Or build your own electrostatic deruster.

Yeah the spindle is out by itself and the top part (Tube) has already been derusted, treated with Metal Ready, and and coated with Por-15. It's below the tube (the spindle and housing) the back of the housing has a recessed area I want to get at because its yucky. I was wondering can I soak the parts below the tube. And no unfortunately I don't have access to a sandblater yet[:(]
