"On test by Autocar magazine in 1947 top speed was found to be 75 mph (121 km/h) and 0–60 mph (0-96 km/h) took 34.4 seconds"
Anybody got a sundial? Even a US spec TR7 is a road hugging barn burner by comparison!
"The body design was anachronistic."
I guessed we could say the TR7 was 'anachronistic' also in that it wasn't just the next derivation of 1950s era techonology....and hence many people didn't 'get it'?
I guess beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. Listening to some of the praise heaped on this car (and the sales pitch!), I reminds me of the old timers who thought the worst thing Henry Ford ever did was move past the flathead V-8! Thank goodness we did.
A great study in the 'subjective' for sure. I am not saying this car isn't neat on some level (a great history it appears), just that well....it's very subjective and a little knowledge of cars will help you judge history better. Some of the same people who would traditionally deride a TR7 as 'slow' would probably fawn all over this car. I bet this 1800 requires more maintenance than a 2008 Toyota also!
